KARL STORZ Further Expands Direct Sales with Acquisition in Switzerland

The Swiss company Anklin, based in Reinach, is now part of the KARL STORZ direct sales network, ensuring continuous operational excellence and closer customer relations.

The family-owned MedTech company KARL STORZ announces the acquisition of its long-standing local distributor ANKLIN to further expand direct sales in Switzerland.

This agreement includes all product sales and service operations, as well as the transfer of around 80 ANKLIN employees working on KARL STORZ accounts to ensure continued operational excellence for customers. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

Strengthening the market position

The business transfer was completed on January 15, 2025. KARL STORZ products in Switzerland will now be distributed solely by direct sales under the ANKLIN brand. This acquisition brings KARL STORZ closer to its customers and their individual needs regarding products and services in the MedTech industry. The majority of ANKLIN’s business involves distributing and supporting KARL STORZ products, and it holds a strong share of this market. KARL STORZ will now benefit directly from the excellent market knowledge of ANKLIN employees as well as client relationships. ANKLIN is renowned for its customer service and quick delivery. KARL STORZ’s purchase of ANKLIN also allows it to further strengthen relationships with healthcare partners in Switzerland, enabling it to meet their individual needs and deliver specialized advice on increasingly complex solutions. In 2024, KARL STORZ also switched to direct sales in Hungary, Saudi Arabia, Chile, and the Benelux region.

Embracing the new workforce

ANKLIN will initially continue under its own brand and operate from its existing site in Reinach, Switzerland. Its business not related to KARL STORZ was spun off by the former owners of the company. ANKLIN will be integrated into a refreshed KARL STORZ European structure as part of a region with Germany. “The switch to direct sales in Switzerland allows us to better focus on local customers and utilize the great potential of the market," said Fabio Cortesi, KARL STORZ’s Senior Vice President for Sales Europe. “Combined with our talented and experienced team, we’ll see great results for our patients, partners, and improve our company’s position in the European region.”

Smooth transition for all customers

The KARL STORZ team has worked together with ANKLIN to ensure a smooth transition for all existing customers. All account representatives for the portfolio of KARL STORZ will continue to offer support in person while assisting in implementing any necessary changes and new processes. The cooperation and commitment of the two parties were aligned to ensure minimal impact on the employees and customers. KARL STORZ is grateful to the management of ANKLIN for its decadeslong and successful partnership in building a strong position in the Swiss market and is excited to now engage further with customers in the region.
