Tuttlingen, 2/10/2015 In honor of her long-standing contributions to promoting innovation in minimally invasive surgery and her support of modern further training for surgeons, Dr. h. c. mult. Sybill Storz was awarded the "Médaille de L’innovation en Chirurgie" (medal of innovation in surgery) by the prestigious French National Academy of Surgery. In a ceremony held at René Descartes University in Paris on 21 January 2015, Sybill Storz was the first foreign entrepreneur to receive this award, presented by Professor Daniel Jaeck, President of the French National Academy of Surgery.

The French National Academy of Surgery was founded in 1731 and informs surgeons of all specialties about novelties and advances in surgery. This includes not only medical and technical aspects of surgical procedures but also economic and legal issues. The academy actively supports the further training of surgeons and is valued for guaranteeing uniform guidelines and ethics in surgery.
