Planting the Seeds of the KARL STORZ Forest

Tuttlingen, May 8, 2024 – KARL STORZ is proud to announce the successful creation of the KARL STORZ Forest in Blumberg, in cooperation with the myreforest organization. This initiative saw around 40 colleagues, including volunteers and trainees, from the company come together to plant 450 trees close to the company headquarters, and make a direct contribution to environmental protection and sustainability. The planting campaign can save around 450,000 kilograms of CO2 emissions every year. It was made possible by a Christmas quiz campaign in which the German employees worked as a team to collect points for the tree donation in the region.

As a family-owned business, KARL STORZ is committed to ensuring that future generations can enjoy a thriving and healthy environment. Reforestation is a key element of climate protection, and in cooperation with myreforest, a previously unwooded area near Blumberg was replanted. The 450 trees will compensate around 450,000 kilograms of CO2 emissions, equivalent to removing the average consumption of nearly 100 cars from the roads for a year. Reforesting has numerous environmental advantages, including the enhancement of biodiversity, protection of water resources, and improvement of air quality. It plays a crucial role in climate protection by absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, which helps to mitigate the effects of climate change. Additionally, reforestation helps to restore degraded landscapes, prevent soil erosion, and support the natural cycles of ecosystems. By planting trees, we contribute to creating a healthier and more sustainable environment for current and future generations.

Colleagues Grab a Shovel

The KARL STORZ team tackled the adventure of planting trees themselves with a great deal of creative energy. The campaign would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts of many volunteers after work and at the same time provided an unforgettable communal experience. In just two and a half hours, the KARL STORZ Forest became a reality. In addition to many drops of sweat in sunny temperatures, all participants clearly had fun and were rewarded with a dinner in the forest and sore muscles the following day. "Our involvement here not only contributes to environmental sustainability but was also a great team-building opportunity across departmental boundaries - it was great fun to be active with so many great people," said Anja Ebert, Head of Corporate Communications at KARL STORZ.
